Application Instructions for Doctoral Course (Medicine) commencing in April 2020

I. Eligible Applicants

Anyone who has graduated from the Faculty of Medicine (6-year course) of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City (UMP) is eligible to apply. For other graduates of UMP, it is recommended to consult with the Academic Affairs Division (AAD) of the University of Yamanashi (UY) first.

1. Preparation

2. Document Screening (Certification of Qualification)

Documents below should be submitted to AAD in PDF form by June 15, 2019. The deadline may be extended for those graduated from the 6-years course of UMP. Please contact AAD for the details.

① Examination Form for the Approval of Application Requirements (The form is available upon request from AAD at yao@yamanashi.ac.jp)
② Certificate of Graduation from UMP (English)
③ Academic Transcript of UMP (English) 
④ Letter of Recommendation from Academic Advisor at UMP (Optional, English)
⑤ Copy of Passport

3. Online Interview

Once you pass document screening, an online interview will be conducted by the academic advisor you have chosen in the first step. Technically, the online interview is not an essential part of the series of admission process. You can skip this step if you already have private consent of acceptance from an academic advisor of UY.

4. Online Application

The online application system of UY is currently unavailable to applicants residing outside of Japan. Please send all required documents listed on the second step to AAD by post as early as possible, so that the staffs of UY can handle the application by proxy. As for the entrance examination fee and a bank transfer fee, they will be collected at the International Relations Office of UMP.

5. Entrance Examination

The entrance examination is expected to be on July 19, 2019 at UMP. AAD will inform you the details when the time and location of the examination are finalized. You will be informed about the examination result.

6. Procedures after the Examination

Successful candidates will continue receiving email from AAD regarding the admission, visa application, etc. as needed. Please check email from UY regularly and follow the instructions.
